Who wouldn’t want to have clear, glowing skin?
Unfortunately, not everyone is fortunate enough to be blessed with good skin from the beginning. But who says it’s too late to achieve a better complexion?
Fortunately, aesthetic treatments have become more effective in treating skin concerns like acne scars, wrinkles, and other issues caused by aging and excessive sun exposure.
One great example is skin resurfacing. Read on to know what it is and how it can help you achieve your #skincaregoals.
What Is Skin Resurfacing?
In essence, skin resurfacing is a laser treatment that reduces the appearance of scars and wrinkles, tightens skin, and even out skin pigmentation, to name a few.
Skin resurfacing works by using short, concentrated pulsating beams of light on the treatment area. The laser then makes a precise pattern of micro-injuries on your skin so that the RF energy will better penetrate into the layers of skin in the treated area.
As a result, the laser gently gets rid of the damaged top layer to facilitate the growth of new collagen fibers, which then leads to a healthy new layer of skin that is firmer and smoother.
Skin Resurfacing at Restore Center
The Restore Center for Aesthetics uses the Venus Versa, an FDA-approved device that improves skin using advanced techniques to improve your skin’s texture and overall appearance.
This skin resurfacing treatment is a non-invasive way to address your skin-related concerns and thus reduce the appearance of stretch marks, large pores, fine lines, and wrinkles.
On top of these, Venus Versa can also help address acne scars as well as other blemishes to give you a smoother, clearer, and more radiant complexion.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Skin Resurfacing?
If you’re dealing with some of the following concerns, you’re likely to benefit from a skin resurfacing treatment:
Enlarged oil glands on your nose
- Age spots
- Sun-damaged skin
- Uneven skin pigmentation
- Acne or chicken pox scars
- Minimal fine lines or wrinkles
Take note though that if you struggle with active acne, deep, pronounced wrinkles, or advanced skin laxity, it’s best to schedule a consultation with your provider to explore other treatment options.
What to Expect During and After Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing is generally performed as an outpatient procedure. To help you understand the treatment better, here’s a brief run-through about how it goes:
Treatment Proper
First, the skin will be cleansed to get rid of any excess oil, dirt, and bacteria. Afterwards, the treatment area will be numbed with a numbing cream to ensure that you’re as comfortable as possible.
The treatment will then begin and the device creates micro-channeling to safely deliver heat (via Nano-Fractional Radio Frequency) through the skin’s surface. This will improve the appearance and texture of your skin.
Following the procedure, a non-stick dressing is sometimes applied to the treated area for the next 4 hours to protect the skin, especially from direct sun exposure.
Aftercare Reminders
For best results, always use a gentle moisturizer and high-quality sunscreen while temporarily steering clear of skin care products with harsh active ingredients once you’re done with your initial skin resurfacing treatments.
As with other procedures, you’ll need a series of three to five treatments, four weeks apart, to achieve desired results, then touch-ups to maintain the results. In most instances, our satisfied patients in Munster, IN, get skin resurfacing treatments twice a year as part of their maintenance regimen.
